Being thirteen means more freedom because now that you are officially a teenager, your parents would be more lenient and allow you to go to places like malls just by yourself or with some friends. Doing something without parental supervision is probably one of the best feelings in the world for many. However, having more liberty means having more responsibility. You must also prove to your parents that you are worthy of the trust and freedom they are giving you. One of the best ways to prove yourself a responsible adult is to show that you are able of making your own money.
This is, however, easier said than done. Companies do NOT hire 13-year old boys and girls. The reasons for this are either legal or because they simply do not have any jobs needed to be done that 13-year olds can do. Nevertheless, do not lose heart! There are some jobs for 13 years old teens that are effective in providing you that extra cash you would need.
First, you could try babysitting. However, some parents do not like the idea of leaving their baby to a 13-year old kid. They would prefer to have older teens look after their child.
You could also try a paper route job. This is easy since you can ride a bicycle while delivering the morning papers. Also, it would still allow you to have time for breakfast and school. The only downside of this job is that you have to wake up very early in the morning everyday. The ideal time to wake up is perhaps 5:00 AM. So if you are not a morning person, this might not be a very good idea.
Thirteen-year olds are almost certainly, not alien to the Internet. In fact, even younger kids already have social network accounts, and know how the Internet works. If you are such a teen, then doing paid surveys is a great thing for you. Without having to study, without having to be talented, you can get paid big money by just answering a series of questions that will be sent by the paid survey site to your email. The great thing about this is that whatever your answers will be, you will get paid for it because there are NO wrong answers since surveys are about opinions. Unlike babysitting or a paper route job, answering paid surveys does not require you to work out of the house. You can answer the surveys in the comfort of your own home.
